My name is Jigme Thinley and I am from Bhutan. A father of 2 kids. After my studies I started off as a free-lance tour guide in Bhutan from 2007.Also worked in India for 4 years as content editor for SEM,SEA .
In 2012 I had the privilege to host a tour for a Motorbike group as a guide across Bhutan and ending to the east of the country. This tour with the Swiss group changed my life afterwards.
Due to my good karma and blessings, I had the fortunate honor to organize a trip of 14 Bhutanese to Zurich, Switzerland in 2013.Technical Vocational Education teachers from Bhutan to Switzerland for a field visit in the construction sector.
After the successful trip I was employed by the Swiss Philanthropist as his representative in “Project Bhutan”. Over the course of years I got trained in Switzerland in different fields.
The main focus of work was in the Tvet sector under the Education Ministry in Bhutan. I had undertaken exchange Programs to Switzerland with Bhutanese teachers for training in various fields of construction industry. Also from Switzerland we had many exchange programs where by the Swiss students/workers came to Bhutan and stayed in Technical Training Institute in Bhutan and exchanged knowledge, ideas and experiences.
After 13 years in 2024, the project came to an end. Switzerland has become my second home with many good friends and families.
I have now decided to venture back to my old job and make a career as a tour guide and travel organizer.
My engagement with Switzerland and its people have shaped my life in a beautiful and rewarding way. I would now like to give back by providing a memorable experience for all visitors to Bhutan from Switzerland and the world.
